Hot Tub Experience
Our outdoor hot tubs are designed for year-round use, comfortably seating 4–6 people at a time. Heated with firewood, these tubs provide a rustic and authentic experience, allowing guests to relax under the open sky, regardless of the season.
Usage Details
-
Heating Time: Filling the tub takes approximately 2 hours, and heating the water to the desired temperature requires an additional 1.5–2 hours. To expedite heating and maintain warmth, we recommend covering the tub with the provided lid when not in use.
-
Booking Information: While sauna use is included in your stay, hot tub usage requires prior arrangement and is subject to an additional fee. Please inform us in advance if you wish to use the hot tub, so we can prepare it for your arrival.

Why hot tubbing is good for your health?
At Spithami, each of our holiday homes features a private hot tub, inviting you to indulge in a soothing soak amidst nature’s tranquility. Accessible year-round, our hot tubs offer unique charms in every season, whether you’re enveloped by the vibrant colors of autumn or the serene snowfall of winter.
Operating the hot tub is straightforward, with all necessary equipment provided for your convenience. The interiors are crafted from high-quality materials similar to those used in household baths and shower bases, ensuring a comfortable and slip-resistant experience. The exteriors are adorned with natural wood, harmonizing with the surrounding forest landscape.
To elevate your relaxation, we recommend enhancing the water with natural elements that benefit both body and mind. Adding spruce or pine branches, natural herbs, or plant-based oils can create an aromatic and therapeutic atmosphere, enriching your hot tub experience.
Immerse yourself in the warm embrace of our thoughtfully designed hot tubs, and let the serene environment of Spithami rejuvenate your senses.
Good practices for the use of hot tubs
At Spithami, we uphold a deep respect for nature and our surroundings, and we encourage our guests to share this commitment. To ensure a pleasant and environmentally conscious experience with our hot tubs, please observe the following guidelines:
Before and After Use:
- Clean the Hot Tub Interior: Remove any natural debris such as leaves or insects before and after each use to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
Heating the Hot Tub:
-
Use Only Dry Firewood: For efficient heating, utilize the dry firewood provided. A consistently strong flame will heat the water more rapidly.
-
Avoid Burning Waste: Do not burn trash, plastic, or other waste materials in the hot tub’s stove, as this can damage the equipment and harm the environment.
By adhering to these practices, you contribute to preserving the natural beauty of Spithami and ensure a delightful experience for all guests.
Good to know: safety rules when using a hot tub
There are two main natural elements that need your attention when using a hot tub – fire and water.
The most important rule when using a hot tub is that you can only start heating the stove to heat water when the hot tub is filled with water. If you heat the stove when there is no water in the barrel, the stove will simply break.
Instead of the enjoyable experience you had hoped for, you will have to put up with a cold hot tub, and you will have to compensate for the damage caused by your carelessness.
Recommendations for safe and enjoyable use of the hot tub:
- Only start heating when you have filled the hot tub with water.
- Heat the water in the hot tub to a maximum of 38 degrees. Water above this temperature can have a negative effect on the user’s heart.
- During the heating process, we recommend that you stir the water in the hot tub from time to time – this will help the different layers of water at different temperatures to mix more quickly.
- Stop adding wood to the stove when the temperature of the water in the hot tub reaches 35 degrees.
- The water should only be discharged from the hot tub after the fire in the kiln has been completely extinguished and the coals have cooled down.
- The hot tub shall be entered and exited only by means of a stairway provided for that purpose.
- Do not jump into or out of the cremation barrel.
- Use only natural preparations (plants, vegetable oils) as healing additives to the water in the caldron.
- When you have finished using the hot tub, if you still want to enjoy it later (in a few hours or the next day, for example), cover it with a lid. The barrel will stay warm for several hours after you stop heating it.
- If you feel dizzy when you are in the hot tub, if your or your companion’s heart starts beating faster – leave the tub. The water may be too hot, or you may have been in the barrel too long and it’s time to take a break.
All Spitham holiday cottages with sauna are equipped with their own hot tub. The use of the hot tub is available to our nature loving holidaymakers for a small extra charge – from €50 for unlimited use.
If you would like to use the hot tub while staying with us, please make a note of this when making your reservation. We’ll arrange a time when you want to use the hot tub, and we’ll prepare everything you need – we’ll fill it with fresh, clean water and heat it up too.
Relax and enjoy.
