Forest theraphy in Spithami Holiday Houses
In today’s fast-paced world, detachment from nature can swiftly lead to exhaustion and a decline in overall well-being. Engaging in forest therapy, or “shinrin-yoku,” has been shown to significantly enhance mental health by alleviating symptoms of depression and reducing anxiety disorders.
What is forest therapy and why it is useful for you

Forest theraphy at your fingertips
Scientific studies have shown that forest therapy can:
- Slow heart rate and stabilize blood pressure
- Improve focus and concentration
- Speed up recovery after surgery or illness
- Boost overall energy levels
- Enhance sleep quality
- Reduce stress hormone production
- Strengthen immunity
- Elevate mood and overall sense of well-being
Forest therapy is suitable for everyone, regardless of physical fitness.
The best way to experience forest therapy is in small groups of 3-5 people, though it’s also a wonderful practice for individuals or pairs. It’s important to note that larger group sizes will require longer sessions. Forest therapy isn’t ideal for young children, as it requires focused attention, with sessions for smaller groups typically lasting around four hours.
The maximum group size is eight people, with sessions of up to six hours.
At Spithami, forest therapy sessions are led by our partner, certified forest therapy guide Egle Beek. This service is offered as an optional add-on that can be arranged to fit your schedule. If you’d like to book a forest therapy session during your stay, please be sure to check Egle’s availability in advance.
